Nourishment & Community Engagement at Wild Roots
SCREEN-FREE ENGAGEMENT NURTURES DISCOVERY
Wild Roots’ School days are filled with joyful, purposeful experiences that keep children active, engaged, inspired, and excited to learn. Inspired by Montessori structure and Reggio Emilia creativity, our daily rhythms invite children to explore, create, move, care for their environment, spend time outdoors, and follow their curiosity in meaningful ways.
Far from overstimulation and screens, Wild Roots experiences are respectful of the pace and rhythm of childhood, with Mindful Moments for rest amid energetic outdoors exploration and high-touch experiences to nurture individual discovery. Along the way, children build independence, confidence, concentration, social connection, and a lifelong love of discovery.

Daily Rythms
Enrichment is woven into daily life at Wild Roots, giving children meaningful opportunities to explore, create, move, care, and build independence throughout the school day.
Art Studio (the Atelier)
Ages: 2 to 6 years | At All Locations
On any given day, the atelier offers opportunity for fine art, sculpting and clay work, sewing, design, architecture, woodwork, and hands on access to a variety of natural and recycled materials. Through creative exploration with sensorial and art media, our children learn to express themselves artistically and find value in community investment.
Gardening
Ages: 2 to 6 years | At All Locations
In the garden, children learn what it means to care for the world around them. Younger students build fine motor skills and early confidence as they water, dig, plant, and observe the life cycles unfolding in front of them. As children grow, gardening becomes a deeper exploration of farm-to-table learning, nutrition, and the changing seasons, helping them understand where food comes from and how patient, thoughtful care helps living things thrive.
Mindful Moments, ie.
Yoga, Meditation, Breathing
Ages: 2 to 6 years | At All Locations
Through quiet meditation, gentle movement, sensory awareness, and age-appropriate yoga, children learn simple ways to settle their bodies and tune into how they feel. These mindful moments support emotional awareness, concentration, and self-regulation, helping children move into the rest of their day with greater calm, clarity, and connection.
Outdoor Exploration & Play
Ages: All ages | At All Locations
Outdoor time at Wild Roots is woven throughout the day, giving children room to move, climb, run, imagine, and explore in a natural, open-air environment. With wooden playgrounds, outdoor play kitchens, clubhouse spaces, and hands-on stations for creative discovery, children are invited to use their whole bodies and whole imaginations. Rather than staying cooped up indoors, they have daily opportunities to build strength, confidence, coordination, social skills, and a joyful connection to the natural world.
Food Preparation
Ages: 2 to 6 years | At All Locations
Children practice real-life food prep skills in thoughtful, age-appropriate ways, from toddlers chopping soft fruits to older children making sandwiches, preparing simple snacks, serving friends, and helping with cleanup. Rooted in Montessori practical life principles, these everyday tasks build concentration, coordination, confidence, and independence. Children learn to care for themselves, their classroom and community, developing self-care skills and responsibility that carry into home life and the wider world.
Cultural Studies
Ages: 2 to 6 years | At All Locations
Through Cultural Studies, children explore holidays, traditions, foods, music, art, and ways of life from around the world. These joyful, hands-on experiences help children notice both the beautiful differences and shared connections across cultures, whether they are tasting special foods, learning about family traditions, or celebrating favorite days like Holi, when students delight in playing with colorful powder. Along the way, children build curiosity, respect, and a wider sense of belonging in the world.
Spanish Immersion & Foreign Language Learning
Ages: All ages | At All Locations
At Wild Roots, we incorporate a Spanish Immersion component into our primary program for children ages 3 and older. An experienced assistant speaks fluent Spanish to the children in the morning work period, providing a conversational Spanish language experience while helping the children choose work, engage in practical life and food preparation activities, and in basic care and nurture. Immersing young children in another language in a natural way leads to a more effortless and meaningful learning experience. We find children “pick up” the language within a few months of regular exposure.
Extra Something Special Enrichment
Optional add-on programs give children even more ways to discover new interests, build skills, and enjoy special experiences during the school day.
Music Lessons (Bella Musica)
Ages: 2 to 6 years | At All Locations
Bella Musica consists of collaborative group classes with recitals twice a year. Students explore music fundamentals including basic rhythm, pitch, types of sound, and instrument exploration. Children experience music through movement, song, and dance, developing teamwork and investment as they work together in cultivating a love for the musical arts!
Sports (Wild Olympians)
Ages: 2 to 6 years | At All Locations
Our sports program occurs through the fall and spring months, and are weekly action-filled classes uniquely designed and prepared for young children to discover a love of movement and sports! The children learn the basic fundamentals of a variety of sports, including baseball, football, and lacrosse. This fun class builds self-confidence in the children while improving motor skills and practicing teamwork.
Jiu Jitsu (new!)
Ages: 2 to 6 years | Temecula-Exclusive
At our Temecula location, children have the opportunity to participate in jiu jitsu classes through a nearby studio located right next door. Wild Roots helps coordinate the experience during school hours, with a teacher walking children over and supervising them during their sessions. This optional enrichment gives families an easy way to introduce children to body awareness, focus, confidence, respect, and self-discipline without adding another activity to the after-school schedule.
Nutritious Meal Program
Additional offerings and programs give students more opportunities to find things they love to do.
Healthy Meal Program (Cucina Affamato)
Ages: 1 to 6 years | Included with Tuition at RSM location, Additional fee at WR Temecula
Wild Roots’ health-focused meal program offers families the convenience of skipping daily lunch packing while giving children nourishing, organic, child-friendly meals prepared right on site. Cucina Affamato features balanced, licensing-approved meals with plenty of variety, a little gourmet creativity, and culturally diverse dishes that introduce children to flavors from around the world. Like all Wild Roots food offerings, the program is always nut-free.
Parent Engagement
Parent & Me
Ages: 1 to 6 years | At All Locations
The Wild Roots Parent & Me program provides parents and their children with an opportunity to experience the Reggio Emilia approach to early learning together. Each session is led by one of our experienced Reggio Emilia–trained teachers and focuses on open-ended, hands-on exploration through art and nature.
Parent Night Out
Ages: 2 to 6 years | At All Locations
