Parenting can sometimes feel isolating. It asks so much of you: your time, your energy, your patience, and your willingness to keep learning as your child grows. In the midst of daily routines and countless decisions, knowing you are part of a larger community can bring comfort. And, finding a place where you can ask questions, share the joys and challenges, and feel understood can become a lifeline; a much-needed reminder that you don’t have to figure everything out on your own.
At Wild Roots Holistic Learning Center in Rancho Santa Margarita, we want that sense of belonging to extend to the whole family. Our Montessori and Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool brings children, parents, caregivers, and teachers together with the understanding that we all have something to offer and something to learn from one another.
This past month, our Parent & Me fall session and our first Parent Education Night gave us time to nurture those connections: to slow down, share experiences, and enjoy being together.
Parent & Me in Rancho Santa Margarita: Fall in Love with Fall
Apples, pumpkins, a farmers market, and baskets of natural fall materials brought the season into our Parent & Me classes. With their trusted adult nearby, children had room to explore, imagine, and follow their curiosity.
For parents and caregivers, these mornings offered something equally meaningful: time to be fully present with their children. Exploring alongside their children creates opportunities to notice new interests, appreciate their growing confidence, or see how they approach an unfamiliar experience. Small moments of play can tell us so much when we have the time to watch and listen.
These experiences reflect values we hold close in Montessori education and the Reggio Emilia approach: respect for children’s ideas, hands-on discovery, and thoughtful environments that invite exploration.
Alongside the children’s discoveries, there is room for adults to connect, too. A conversation can begin over a shared observation or a familiar parenting experience. As families get to know one another, those little exchanges can become a source of encouragement and friendship.
Our RSM Parent & Me program welcomes both enrolled families and families from the wider community. Your child does not need to attend Wild Roots to participate. We love opening our doors to neighbors and new friends, offering a place to spend meaningful time with your child and feel part of a caring community.
Parent Education Night: Connecting Through the Toddler Years
That same spirit of connection carried into our very first Parent Education Night for our Rosemary toddler families.
The toddler years are full of growth: new words, growing independence, big feelings, and an eagerness to do things “all by myself.” They can also leave parents with plenty of questions. Having a chance to connect with families whose children are at a similar stage can bring comfort, perspective, and the reassuring feeling that someone understands.
Parent Education Nights make space for families to share experiences and learn from one another, while teachers offer insights and practical tips for supporting children’s development. They also give us time to strengthen the relationship between home and school through thoughtful, open conversations.
Sometimes, hearing another parent describe a familiar challenge helps us feel a little less alone. Sometimes, a teacher’s suggestion gives us a fresh approach to try. These conversations help us support one another as our children grow.
Relationships at the Heart of Our Preschool
At our Rancho Santa Margarita preschool, the relationships we build with families are an important part of how we support children.
Montessori principles guide our respect for each child’s independence and individual development. Our Reggio Emilia inspiration encourages us to listen closely, welcome different perspectives, and value the connections between children, teachers, families, and their environment.
Gatherings like Parent & Me and Parent Education Night give those values a place to grow. When we observe together, ask questions, and share what we know about a child, we deepen our understanding of them—and our trust in one another.
Growing Together at Wild Roots
A sense of community grows through everyday moments: being greeted by name, recognizing a familiar face, sharing a story, or watching children make a discovery together.
We are grateful to the families who joined us this past month and brought their curiosity, warmth, and experiences into these gatherings. Each of you helps make Wild Roots a place where children and adults can feel they belong.
Whether your family attends our school or joins us for Parent & Me, we are so happy to be able to share life with you. We look forward to more opportunities to grow together!
